Notes About Designs

LIT Creations have a team of very talented designers who not only do website designs, but any designs for printing purposes. Although we don't specialise in printing, we do specialise in awesome designs and can therefore provide you with any design work you may require.

What we will need from you, before starting on any of the designs below:

1) Logo: A high resolution logo of 300dpi. If you don't have a logo for your business, note that the same team of awesome designers (yes, we may be ever so slightly biased!) can help with this! Please click here for more information on logo designs and related costs.

2) Size: Please advise what size artwork you require. If you're not sure what you need, please contact us and we'll help you with recommendations and advice - for free!

3) Imagery: If there is any imagery that you would like to display in the design, we require such imagery in high resolution 300dpi. If you do not have any images in high resolution, we can source relevant imagery from our in-house royalty-free stock at no additional cost.

4) Content: We need the copy / text that you would like to be included on the front and back (where applicable) of the design. Please note that you should keep your language simple by avoiding long words and jargon. Please make sure that all facts stated are correct and if you are dealing with policy regulations, check if the content is within those guidelines.

Differences between CMYK & RGB:
Note that when any designs are viewed on a computer screen, they are viewed using RGB format. Artwork for printing needs to be done in CMYK and there are differences between RGB and CMYK in terms of the perceived colour on screen vs. the printed colour. LIT Creations always recommend that, upon receipt of our artwork, you first have one page printed, to see that the colours within the design are being printed to your expectations. In addition, if you already have a logo designed by a third-party, please send us the RGB / CMYK values used in the logo so that the same colours can be used in the designs we will be creating for you. LIT Creations accept no responsibility for any discrepancies which may arise from colour variations of a design upon printing.

Proofing & final approval of artwork:
All artwork, upon completion, will be sent to you in low resolution RGB format, for you to check the information therein and design layout etc. With each design, you are permitted to make a single set of changes. A "set of changes" is defined as a single email, in which you list the items to be changed within the initial design (note that the concept is predefined in the initial draft, which cannot be changed in this set of changes).

Upon approval of the design, you will be sent the high resolution CMYK version for printing. If the CMYK version is too large to email to you, it will be placed on CD at an additional fee of R80 (ex VAT) and can be collected from our offices in Lonehill, JHB. If you would like us to courier the CD to you, we can quote you on courier costs to your specific location.

LIT Creations cannot be held in any way responsible for spelling or any other errors in the designs, as you, the client, would have had the opportunity to amend any errors prior to approval of the final design.

Business Card Designs

LIT Creations can provide your company with business card designs. We will need a logo in high resolution in order to design the business cards. If you do not have a company logo, please first click here for more information on the design of a logo and prices related to this.

LIT Creations design business cards at the following rates:

Design on front of card only R200 (ex VAT)
Design on front and back of card R300 (ex VAT)

If requested to make replicas of the business card, but with different contact details, each variation will carry an additional design cost of R150 (ex VAT). This would be used for different people within the same organisation.

Note that upon completion of the design, we will send the design to you, the client, in low resolution for approval. You are permitted one set of changes to the design, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. If more changes are requested after the initial set of changes is completed, these will be charged at our hourly rate.

The cards are designed at a size of 95x55mm (90x50mm with bleed included for printing). LIT Creations do not print business cards. Upon completion of the design, we will send to the client in high resolution PDF or jpg format and the client can use any printer they choose. We can provide suggestions for printing companies, if required.

Company Profiles

Company profiles are reports that provide an overview of the history, current status and future goals of a business. A business company profile can be as short as a single page, or contain enough data to fill several pages.

With just about any type of company profile, services and products that the company provides, as well as contact information should always be included. In addition, the company profile usually includes some historical background on the business. This includes data on when the company was formed, the names of the founders, and how the company fared in its earliest days. Often, the historical narrative continues on to the present day. While not an exhaustive history, it is often enough to give the reader a sense of how the company has grown over the years.

LIT Creations create awesome profiles with graphic content which we source for your business. We design the entire profile around your corporate identity and providing the final PDF to you in a print-ready format.

Design cost:
Opening page + index + up to 10 other pages: R2000 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.
Opening page + index + up to 15 other pages: R2800 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.
Opening page + index + up to 20 other pages: R3300 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.
More than 18 pages: R200 (ex VAT) per page.

Note that the basic information needs to be provided to us in Word (or similar) format. Note also that copywriting is not included in the costs above, but our in-house copywriter can assist if required, at an additional fee of R350 (ex VAT) per hour.

Flyers

Flyers can be designed in a number of different sizes, including A4, A5 or A6. The design can be either single or double sided. Flyers are a great marketing tool to showcase your most important business features / products. They are an ideal handout at events and promotions, or even at traffic intersections!

It is important to ascertain who your target audience is before starting out, so that you have a better idea as to whether you're going to use them to:
  • Advertise your product
  • Advertise your company
  • Popularize your message
Design cost:
Single-sided design: R800 (ex VAT)
Double-sided design: R1000 (ex VAT)

Each of the above options includes 1 design concept. Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

All flyer designs will include a 5mm bleed. If your printer requires more bleed, please advise before project commencement.

Roll-up Banners

Banners are an excellent way to promote any business and are sure to make your event a success. PVC banners are ideal for a wide range of marketing activities as they are a powerful yet economical way to bring attention to your business.

Design cost:
R1000 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept. Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

Please note:

1) All banners are designed at 40% of the actual size for printing purposes. Please make sure your printer is informed about this.

2) We design banners at 2000x850mm. If you require a different size, please let us know.

Brochures / Pamphlets

Brochures (or pamphlets) are booklets designed and used as:
  • marketing tools to advertise specific services or products; or
  • informative tools to describe, for example, your company workings or business principles
When getting a brochure to sell or explain your products or services, you must remember that this brochure is going to "speak on your and your company's behalf" and it is therefore extremely important to make sure that the design and content relays the correct message to your target audience.

The following shows the different brochure types available:

Bi-fold brochures

The first panel works as the front-page, and its main purpose is to introduce the piece and to cause the necessary intrigue or impact to make the viewer want to open it and read the contents. The inside panels are usually reserved for content, while the back-cover is used for contact information.

R1000 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.

Tri-fold / Z-fold brochures

These brochures are thin, convenient to carry and are shaped to tempt viewers to open them. They have 6 panels on which to place information.

Design cost:
R1200 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.

Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

Letterheads

There is often a bit of confusion when it comes to letterheads. LIT Creations can assist with 2 types of letterheads:

1) You just want a letterhead in a Word document format, with your logo and contact information in it, so that you can use it for invoices etc that you intend to email to clients or print on your local printer in your home / office. For this type of letterhead, the design is done in low resolution (usually 72dpi).

Design cost:
R300 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.

Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.



2) You would like a design that you can send to a printing company, who will print you a couple of hundred (or thousands) of A4 sheets, which you can feed into your home / office printer and print on top of these pre-printed letterheads. For this type of letterhead, the design needs to be in high resolution (300dpi).

Design cost:
R600 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.

Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

Presentation Folders

Distributing presentation folders always leaves a lasting impression on customers and is also a great way to acquire new prospects. Use this item to promote your business, introduce new product lines and brand your company image. The folder can be filled with an A4 page description of your business (see "Flyers" section above), with your business card (see "Business card" section above) neatly placed in the di-cut slot provided inside the folder. Distribute these folders at events, corporate presentations, or trade shows.

Design cost:
R1000 (ex VAT), which includes 1 design concept.

Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

Stickers

Stickers can be rectangular, round, or pretty much any shape and size you require. You will need to discuss the shape you require with your selected printer, who will obviously need to process the cutout and provide you with the design specifications. We will need these specifications in order to put together an awesome design for you!

Design cost:
From R400 (ex VAT), depending on complexity of cutout required, including 1 design concept.

Client is permitted one set of suggested changes to the initial design proposal as part of this cost. Thereafter, changes will be charged at an hourly rate of R500 (ex VAT) per hour.

Compliments Slips

A compliments slip (or comp slip) is a slip of paper that contains the same name and address information that would be on a letterhead of formal letter stationery, the pre-printed salutation "with compliments" or "with our/my compliments", and (optional) space afterwards for a short handwritten message to be added. It is used in correspondences, or simply as an enclosure for other material.

There is no fixed size for compliments slips. They may vary in size from the size of a business or visiting card, from which compliments slips originally evolved, to the size of a whole sheet of letter writing paper. It is recommended that they be of a size suitable for placing inside an envelope without more than one fold, and large enough to be noticed when included in a parcel.
